THE MITZVAH EXERCISE
The Mitzvah Exercise was developed by M. Cohen-Nehemia. The Mitzvah Exercise is not an exercise according to common definition but is a fundamental element of the Mitzvah Technique.
M. Cohen Nehemia describes the Mitzvah Exercise as a set of inherent unforced movements, involving sitting, standing and walking. Practicing the Mitzvah Exercise brings immediate and continuous beneficial changes to the body as it exercises the entire body, corrects posture, and releases tension and stress . In addition, practicing the Mitzvah Exercise encourages spine lengthening, back widening, chest expansion and the head to rebalance freely on top of the spine. The freedom of the head on top of the spine is the key to opening and unlocking the entire body. As the head frees on top of the spine, the rest of the body realigns and rebalances while correcting itself all the way down to the toes.
Whether complete or a variation, the Mitzvah Exercise is designed to ripple the spine upwards. The Mitzvah Exercise can be readily varied to deal with specific situations and problems. For example, a person with a postural concern without pain would learn the complete Mitzvah Exercise. Individuals with back problems, severe pain and the elderly practice variations designed to care for their special needs. As improvement commences, individuals learn progressively more challenging versions of the Mitzvah Exercise. The Mitzvah Exercise can be separated and practiced in parts; for example an office worker or a performer could inconspicuously practice a portion of it during work activities.
Benefits of the Mitzvah Exercise increase
as the body mechanics, timing, awareness and application to daily
activities are fine-tuned. The Mitzvah Exercise is a useful self
care tool with remedial and preventative value. The Mitzvah
Exercise can help regain some of the long lost childlike freedom
of movement, balance and ease. It is great to know that we can
undo patterns of body misuse. It is recommended that individuals
study The Mitzvah Exercise from a Certified Teacher of The
Mitzvah Technique.
The Mitzvah Exercise needs to be done under
the guidance of a qualified Mitzvah Technique Teacher to assure
the proper synchronization of movement. It is recommended that
those with health problems obtain medical approval before
attempting the Mitzvah Exercise.
