THE MITZVAH TECHNIQUE LESSON
Individual Mitzvah Technique lessons typically include table, stool and chair work and sometimes utilizing wall and floor exercises. Lessons are taught progressively and vary according to each person's ability to utilize the dynamic upward rippling motion as they sit, stand and walk.
The number of lessons required to establish healthy postural habits vary according to individual needs. Many factors including; the degree and longevity of habitual body misuse, consistency of lessons, practice time and application to lifestyle influence the number of lessons required for the development of healthy postural habits. It is encouraging to note that postural changes begin immediately and the Mitzvah Technique can be practiced after the first lesson. Privacy is protected as the person is always fully clothed. The entire lesson and environment is non-invasive.
Simple equipment requirements include a table, chairs without arm rests, a stool and mirrors for observing changes.
The Mitzvah Technique is also taught in group classes and workshop formats.
The Mitzvah Technique's approach to body re-education teaches you how to independently maintain healthy postural habits through four basic areas of development including; physical changes, knowledge, awareness, and application.
1. Physical changes - Tension build-up, body misuse, trauma and slouching patterns are overcome through gentle hands on direction and guidance with table, chair and stool work. Postural patterns are physically retrained to encourage the dynamic upward rippling motion. Physical changes begin immediately.
2. Knowledge - Sitting, standing and walking patterns are verbally retrained using the Mitzvah Technique. These new patterns can be practiced independently after the first lesson. Knowledge is given about healthy postural usage .
3. Awareness - As the physical changes and knowledge progress, awareness of efficient use of body mechanics and healthy postural patterns increase . There is a growing awareness of freedom and joy of movement and sense of well being.
4. Application - Awareness of healthy postural usage facilitates the need to apply the Mitzvah Technique to daily routines and activities. The re-education of healthy postural habits are further developed through application of the Mitzvah Technique . The Mitzvah Technique is versatile, practical, physically based and readily applied to a wide variety of lifestyle, work, arts, sports and leisure activities. 1(Susan Green)
